AI Imagery Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

The short version: outfit images on Look Gazette are illustrative styling concepts, and many are AI-generated. They show the idea of an outfit (the silhouette, palette and proportions). They are not photographs of the exact products we link to, and the people in them are not real.

How we label images

  • AI-generated outfit images carry the caption Illustrative styling image (AI-generated), not exact products.
  • AI-generated flat lays in Shop the Look carry the caption Illustrative styling, not exact products. Any products listed beneath them are real items we have checked, labelled similar unless they are an exact match.
  • The people in our AI images are generated. They are not real people, models or customers, and are not based on any particular person.
  • Placeholder images, used while a page is being prepared, are marked as placeholders.
  • If we use photography, it is credited. We use retailer photography only through official affiliate feeds and banners, under each programme’s terms, and we never scrape images.

How we make them

We describe each outfit to an image generator garment by garment, then check every result before publishing. We reject images with distorted bodies or faces, visible logos or text, or garments that do not match the written breakdown. We also vary the people, poses and settings so that the images do not all look the same.

What we will not do

  • Present an AI image as a real person, a real customer or a real product photograph.
  • Generate images that imitate a specific brand’s logo, a protected design or a recognisable real person.
  • Use AI images to make claims about how a specific product fits or looks.

Products versus pictures

Products in a Shop the Look section are real items we have checked. We choose them to recreate the look as closely as possible, and they are labelled similar unless they are an exact match. Until we have checked products for a look, the section says Products coming soon.

On Pinterest

Pinterest may label AI-generated or AI-modified images and lets people choose to see fewer of them. We follow Pinterest’s rules for labelling AI-generated content and disclose AI imagery on our pins.

Concerns

If you think an image resembles you, or infringes your rights, tell us through our contact page. We will review it and remove or replace it where appropriate.
