Privacy Policy
The short version: Look Gazette has no accounts, no comments, no advertising trackers and no newsletter. We do not set cookies. We use cookie-free analytics to count visits. If you email us, we use your email only to reply. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we are
This website, https://lookgazette.com, is published by Look Gazette, an independent publication operated from Australia. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Look Gazette. For privacy questions or requests, contact us using the details on our contact page.
What we collect, and why
1. Technical data needed to deliver the site
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. When you visit, Cloudflare’s network necessarily processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. It uses this to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse and attacks, and keeps it only for a limited period, under Cloudflare’s own policies. We do not use it to identify you.
2. Cookie-free analytics
To see which pages are read and how fast they load, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies or other storage in your browser, and Cloudflare says it does not “fingerprint” or track individual visitors across websites. We see only totals: page views, pages visited, referring sites, country, and device and browser type. Cloudflare keeps the detailed data for a short period and aggregated statistics for longer. If we ever change to an analytics tool that uses cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
3. A preference stored on your device
If you choose a hemisphere (North or South) on our Seasonal page, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage so the page opens the same way next time. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
4. Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use them only to read and reply to you, and to keep a record of corrections or requests. Email to our address is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a private mailbox run by an email provider. We keep correspondence for up to 24 months, then delete it, unless we need it longer to deal with a request or legal claim.
What we do not collect
We have no user accounts, comments, newsletter, contact forms, advertising networks, social media tracking pixels or third-party fonts. We do not knowingly collect sensitive information, and we do not sell, rent or trade personal information. If we add a newsletter or anything else that collects personal information, we will update this policy first.
Affiliate links
Some product links may be affiliate links, through networks such as Sovrn Commerce and Awin (our applications are pending). We place no affiliate tracking scripts or cookies on Look Gazette itself; the links are ordinary links, and we do not use third-party scripts that convert links automatically. When you click an affiliate link and land on the network’s or retailer’s website, they may set cookies there to record that you came from Look Gazette, so they can pay us a commission if you buy. That happens on their websites, under their privacy policies. We receive reports of clicks and sales from the networks; these do not tell us who you are.
The “Save to Pinterest” button is a plain link: nothing is sent to Pinterest unless you click it, and then Pinterest’s privacy policy applies.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting, security, analytics and email forwarding.
- Our email provider: stores the emails you send us.
- Affiliate networks and retailers: only on their own websites, after you click a link, as described above.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where UK or EU law requires it, they rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights, in plain language
Everyone
Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you (usually none, or only your emails), and ask us to correct or delete it, using the details on our contact page. We aim to respond within 30 days. We may need to ask you to confirm the email address you wrote from before acting on a request.
Australia
We are based in Australia. The Privacy Act 1988 and its Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set rules for handling personal information. Small businesses are often exempt, and we may be, but we choose to follow the APPs anyway: we collect only what we need, use it only for the reason we collected it, keep it secure and let you access and correct it. If you are unhappy with how we handled a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
United Kingdom and European Union
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have rights to access, correct and erase your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to data portability. Our legal basis for the processing described here is our legitimate interests: running a secure website, understanding overall readership without tracking individuals, and replying to people who contact us. The hemisphere preference is stored only because you ask for it. You can complain to your data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), or in the EU, the authority in your country. We would appreciate the chance to fix things first. If the law requires us to appoint a representative in the UK or EU, we will do so and list their details here.
United States
Several US states, including California, give residents rights to know what personal information a business collects, to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals by default. To exercise any other right, contact us. We will not treat you differently for doing so.
Children
Look Gazette is a general fashion magazine and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has emailed us, let us know and we will delete the message.
Security
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to the accounts we use to run the site and read email is protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, for example before launching a newsletter, and change the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also add a note on the home page.
